6 reasons the Maldives is perfect for families

The Royal Residence

If you’re planning a trip with your extended family then this 5-bedroom / 6 bathroom retreat has everything covered. Set over 3,500 square metres, it includes a private beach, two pools, and a private arrival jetty. The Royal Residence experience begins as soon as you arrive in the Maldives with priority customs service and a personal welcome at the airport before a 20 minute luxury yacht transfer to the island.  ‘The Sanctuary’ (530sqm) includes the Master Bedroom, as well as a separate indoor living area, private spa treatment room and private gym outfitted with state-of-the-art Life Fitness™ equipment. An indoor bathroom with ‘his and hers’ vanities and oversized stone bathtub by Kelly Hoppen™ is complemented by an outdoor bathing area featuring a Jacuzzi with in-built TV.

The Maldives is traditionally seen as a place for couples and honeymooners however, Jumeirah Vittaveli is perfectly set-up for those with children too. It’s only 20 minutes by an exclusive and luxurious motorised catamaran transfer from Malé airport, which makes it ideal for anyone looking for luxury that’s close to the mainland.

1.Spacious accommodation

The options are simply stunning. Choose from 43 beach villas and suites or one of the 46 water villas and ocean suites. For families who need extra space the Two Bedroom Beach Villas are perfect. Offering direct access to white sandy beaches, the Indian Ocean’s clear waters are just steps away. The stunning, spacious interiors are an impressive 230 square metres in size and include child-friendly facilities. Families can relax on the private terrace or take a leisurely dip in the ‘L’ shaped pool. The open-air bathroom including oversized deep-soaking marble bathtub offers an exceptional rain shower experience. At every turn, unbeatable hospitality and five-star amenities are combined to capture the very essence of indulgence in the Maldives.

2.There’s an outdoor cinema

Imagine settling into chairs sculpted from the sand and watching a movie under the stars on a tropical island paradise. This is now a reality at the starlight cinema nights. The resort’s youngest guests can watch family classics while enjoying their favourite sweets and freshly made popcorn.

3.The Kuda Koli Kids Club

You can relax and put your feet up while the little ones make full use of complimentary access to the Kuda Koli Kids’ Club and Teen Lounge. Open for children of all ages, the clubs offer a separate children’s pool and games room complete with a host of recreational and educational activities conducted by a fun and attentive team. Interactive classes are offered including supervised snorkelling, cooking classes, t-shirt painting, face painting, and an island treasure hunt which offers an educational insight into the abundant flora, fauna and marine life found on the island.

4.Play golf and feed the fish

At this resort, both adults and children can sharpen their golf skills on the jetty and tee off with Ecobioballs – the first and only golf ball in the world which dissolves into fish food. Approximately 48-hours after the ball is submerged into the ocean, the core which contains 100% fish food, is released into the water. Although budding golfers may not achieve their maximum distance, the ball allows you to practice golf on the island without harming the marine life.

5.The Art of Poi

Our colleagues are committed to Jumeirah’s STAY DIFFERENT™ brand promise and work to deliver imaginative and exhilarating experiences at our resorts around the world. Look out for the resident fire dancers who put on an impressive show three times a week. Full of energy and passionate about their jobs, Larry Bautista and Zamil Mijares are renowned for entertaining colleagues and guests with their talented fire performances. They can be found performing at the island’s restaurants and during the weekly Guest Cocktail reception where their fire dance displays dazzle guests and create lasting memories.
