Dubai’s first-ever hotel cinema open to the public

You won’t need to check in to check out dubai’s new 40-seater cinema

A new “boutique” cinema built into Dubai’s Rove Downtown hotel will have 49 seats and a schedule of movies with tickets available to all, not only hotel guests, and the ticket price will include popcorn and a soft drink.

Scheduled for completion in the first half of 2018, it will be the first hotel cinema in the UAE open to the public, an extension of Reel Cinemas, with fashion-forward design and stylish seating, adding to the appeal of this midscale hipster hotel, the first property under Rove Hotels, a joint venture between local mega-developers Meraas and Emaar.

All other hotel cinemas in the region, such as the 29-seater Jumeirah Zabeel Saray Cinema, offer daily screenings for hotel guests only.

With the addition of the first hotel-cinema, Rove Downtown is raising the bar “Rove Hotels is for the contemporary traveller who values culturally inspired settings in a vibrant social hub,” says Olivier Harnisch, Chief Executive Officer of Emaar Hospitality Group. “With the addition of the first hotel-cinema, Rove Downtown is raising the bar in its offerings and delivering added-value for our guests.”

As well as screening blockbusters and regional films, it will show alternative content such as football, so let’s hope it’s open in time for 2018’s FIFA World Cup.
