Dubai’s Emaar says Creek Marina, with ‘gravity-defying fountain’, will open this year
The marina, offering over 81 berths for yachts and superyachts, is located in the Dubai Creek Harbour development
Dubai developer Emaar has confirmed that Creek Marina – offering over 81 berths for yachts and superyachts in its Dubai Creek Harbour development, will open in December this year.
Nearly three-fourth of a kilometre long and about a quarter wide, the Creek Marina is billed to be the “new Riviera of the Middle East”, a statement said.
Featuring an oyster design, it will feature a Yacht Club with shopping and dining facilities as well as facilities such as fuelling services, upgraded power outlets and pedestal units.
Creek Marina will also feature a specially designed, “gravity-defying interactive fountain”, world-class art installations and high-end retail, dining and leisure venues.
The promenade also has environment-friendly shaded resting areas as well as 1,500 parking spaces.
Creek Marina will also feature the Vida Harbour Point, a 286-room upscale lifestyle hotel similar to harbour hotels in cities such as Singapore and Shanghai, which is scheduled to open in 2019, a statement said.
The Creek Marina Terminus will also have a sculptural viewing deck and three intertwined ring walkways offering views of the Marina and the city-skyline.
Dubai Creek Harbour, spread across 6 square kilometres, a joint venture of Emaar with Dubai Holding, features residential and commercial developments, retail, hotels, green parks and gardens, several cultural attractions, canals, landscaped promenades, pedestrian walkways, cycle paths, and city bus routes.
It will also feature Dubai Creek Tower – set to become the tallest tower in Dubai, schools, hospitals and recreational facilities as well as four Dubai Metro links.
Last month, Dubai Holding and Emaar Properties also launched a mega ‘tech-driven’ retail project, Dubai Square, at the Dubai Creek Harbour development.
The new mall, which will offer 8.07 million sq ft of gross floor retail space – nearly double the gross leasable area of Dubai Mall – will be spread across three levels, and will feature the Middle East’s largest Chinatown, an events arena, luxury retail, dining and leisure outlets, as well as a cineplex, a waterpark, and an Art District.
The Dubai Creek Harbour development will welcome its first residents in early 2019, the statement said.
When fully complete, it expects to be home to over 200,000 people.
